Hungarian Barnahus Act came into force 1 Jan 2019

On 1st January 2019, the Barnahus Act came into force in Hungary. It establishes public funding for the operation of the Barnahus – as well as official and police and judicial requests. The bill was endorsed by the annual social occupational conference in October 2018, discussed in the Parliament November 2018, and voted on 6 December 2018.

Other progress in Hungary during 2018 included that the Barnahus in Szombathely is the National Competence Center for Barnahus. This comes with the responsibility for training of prospective Barnahus professionals in the areas of implementation, oversight, case discussion and quality assurance.

Hungary plans to launch its second Barnahus
in 2019. Located in Budapest, renovation of the future location of began in
September 2018.

In 2019, the operating costs of the Barnahus in
Szombathely and Budapest will be paid for the first time by Ministry of Human
Resources. By 2020, central budgets will pay for the operation of Barnahus in
Szombathely, Budapest, and other counties.
