Presumed trafficking cases in Barnahus – new tools for adapting services and meeting the Barnahus Quality Standards

This webinar focused on how Barnahus services can be adapted to better support child victims of human trafficking. It looked at Acute Crisis Intervention (ISA), the Handbook for forensic child interviews in presumed cases of trafficking, and key European and international legal provisions with a particular focus on multidisciplinary approaches and services.

The webinar was presented by Noora Halmeenlaakso from the National Bureau of Investigation in Finland, Dr. Linda Jonsson from Marie Cederschiöld University, Rebecca O’Donnell from Child Circle, and Olivia Lind Haldorsson from the Council of the Baltic Sea States.

  • Dr. Linda Jonsson introduced the Acute Crisis Intervention (ISA) that she has developed in the context of this project focusing on key aspects that are important to be aware of for professionals involved in interagency case management. This intervention is tailored for the first critical days after disclosure or a child investigative interview. See presentation
  • Rebecca O’Donnell discussed key European and international legal provisions with a particular focus on multidisciplinary approaches and services. Rebecca highlighted t the revision of the trafficking directive, referral mechanism provisions, and provisions from the revision of the victims’ rights directive.  See presentation

This webinar is part of the TRM project, a project that develops new standards and guiding principles for national and transnational referral mechanisms with a specific focus on child victims and incorporating a child-centered response for child victims of trafficking. Read more…
